ITINERARY

DAY 1: ARRIVAL TODAY (today’s schedule might change based on arrival times)

HAVANA, CUBA

Arrive at Jose Marti Airport, Havana, Cuba. Hola, Cubita Linda!

After clearing customs and getting luggage we travel to the homes in order to get settled in and meet your hostesses before we begin our journey.

Lunch today is based on flight arrival times.

After lunch we will embark on a panoramic tour of Havana, in convertible automobiles: Plaza of the Revolution (Plaza de La Revolucion), Colon Cemetery, Botanical Gardens (El Bosque de la Havana), Fifth Avenue (5ta Avenida) and the famous seawall, El Malecon.

The next stop is the Hotel Nacional, a historical luxury hotel, circa 1930. There are terrific views of Havana and El Malecon from the hotel. ** This is always a wonderful stop to enjoy a Welcome Cocktail and the live sounds of Cuban melodies**

8:00pm – Chef Diego owner of Los Balcones de Diego and recently awarded the International Culinary degree, is excited to share some of his favorite Cuban dishes. Enjoy a wonderful outdoor dinner.

Head out after dinner to see the beauty of Havana at night. Enjoy a casual walk around central park (Parque Central) in Old Havana for some music and sight-seeing. We will stroll past the Capital building (Capitolio), the National Museum of Fine Arts (Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes) and the Grand Theatre Alicia Alonso. In the evenings, these architectural beauties are powerful and elegant with dramatic lighting effects.

DAY 2:

HAVANA-SOROA-VIÑALES, CUBA

8:00am Breakfast at your residence and departure to Pinar del Rio.

Today we move towards Viñales, the Western-most province of Cuba, famous for its rich soil, tobacco production and picturesque scenery. We will visit the charming village of Viñales nestled in the Sierra de los Organos mountains. Viñales Valley is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and settlement dating back to the Spanish colonial era. The area while quiet, is booming with excitement and a lively population.

On the way we stop at Soroa, a natural preservation with beautiful Orchid gardens that have been in existence prior to the Revolution-a great stop to break the drive on way to Viñales. After touring the gardens, enjoy a light lunch in the “Castle by the Clouds” prior to continuing our journey.

** Option for hiking here, beautiful tropical biosphere and Waterfalls make for a refreshing afternoon**

Arrival into Viñales late in the afternoon, get situated into our homes and enjoy a casual stroll around town or among the friendly farm families. The Valley of Viñales is home to some of the nicest most caring people of Cuba.

DAY 3:

VIÑALES, CUBA (Farm Life)

** For those that enjoy early morning hours, this area is a photographers dream first thing in the day when the sun is rising. The area wakes up to the sounds of roosters, and other farm animals prior to the children venturing to School. Life here is peaceful yet full of energy and positive affection towards the visiting tourists.

Breakfast at your residence.

The majority of the morning is spent on one of the largest working farms in Viñales. (Tobacco rolling, coffee exploration, honey and local rum are among some of the interesting local items we will learn about today.). Horse Carriage or horseback will take you around the farm.

Lunch is included: At a farmer’s home

Las Cuevas de Santo Tomas will be a fun exploration this afternoon as the cave system brings adventure and sights that will delight your eyes. Here we will explore with a guide leading the group through the complex areas and amazing landscapes.

Dinner is Included: Paladar

DAY 4:

VIÑALES-HAVANA, CUBA

Breakfast at your residence. 

Early morning bicycle ride to the Mural of the Prehistoria a project that took 4 years and which depicts the evolution of life. You will truly feel like you have been transported to an ancient setting as you ride through the lush and impressive landscape. The mural is depicted on one of the largest Mogotes (limestone rock formations in the area), great photography opportunities and walking/biking trails.

Quick on the go lunch before heading back to Havana with arrival in the late afternoon.

Rest and preparation for dinner.

Dinner is Included: One of the most beautiful settings in Havana and an excellent culinary experience awaits you at Vista Mar.

DAY 5:

HAVANA-TRINIDAD, CUBA

Breakfast at your residence.

We will travel to the beautiful city of Trinidad this morning. Trinidad is a magnificent colonial town which displays many of the geographical wonders the island of Cuba has to offer. From crystalline Caribbean waters, to lush jungles and rugged mountains, Trinidad is central to the island in many ways.

Lunch will be in the pristine French Colonial city of Cienfuegos to break up the journey to Trinidad.

Once we arrive in Trinidad we will settle into your homes and have a bit of time to rest or casually walk the town before dinner.

* After dinner we will take another stroll through the colonial town which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. We will visit several lively bars and music venues where the world famous Mojito, Daiquiri and the Cuba Libre are served, as well as a special local favorite called Canchánchara.

DAY 6:

TRINIDAD, CUBA

Breakfast at your residence.

Today you will enjoy a safari adventure through Topes de Collantes. Rustic Russian trucks will carry you into the mountains until you reach the deepest areas of the jungle where you will dismount and continue your adventure on foot. This day will be filled with refreshing waterfalls, rivers along the route and unique landscape covered with endemic flora and fauna. The beautiful

“El Rocio” waterfall and “pond of the deer” are not to be missed.

Lunch will take place in this jungle region during your journey.

Dinner is included.

We explore some of the local flavors of the picturesque town, as we walk to the music spots this evening.

*This evening we enjoy traditional music and dancing on the steps in the center of the Plaza Major as a final celebration before your departure. Everything from Afro-Cuban rhythms, Salsa, Son, Bolero, and Bachata can be heard on these steps from some of the biggest acts on the island.

DAY 7:

TRINIDAD-VARADERO, CUBA

Early breakfast at your residence and head over to Varadero Beach

Day is spent enjoying the crystal clear waters of Varadero Beach, recognized around the world for its beauty and relaxation.

DAY 8: (today’s activities are based on travel times)

VARADERO- HAVANA, CUBA

Preparation for departure, need to be at Airport 2.5 hours prior to departure.
